Poor Customer Service, Unable to deliver my package

What can FedEx do to correct this problem?
I was expecting a delivery to my home from FedEx, I received a door tag number, DT709142468070 since I was not home. I called FedEx and explained that I would be out of town for more than 30 days and asked if the item could be redirected to my neighbor’s home. I was told, NO. The asked me if someone could be at the house and I said I could not expect my neighbor to sit at my home all day. They told me that the FedEx delivery person could all my neighbor when they got to my home, neighbor could then come over and sign for the item. Another delivery attempt was made and my neighbor never received a call. We called in again to FedEx and went through the entire conversation again and again FedEx tried to deliver it, NO call to my neighbor. After several attempts I was told there could be no more attempts but I could pick it up at the FedEx location (which is 1.5 hours from my residence). I tried to explain that I was on Florida till April and the agent ignored me completely. I spoke to a supervisor who told me the same thing but the Supervisor told me that no delivery agents have a company cell phone and she didn’t think they would try to call a neighbor with their own personal phone. She said if I didn’t come to pick it up within 7 days it would be returned to the sender.

To say I am upset about this is an understatement. My wife and I spoke to at least 4 different agents who all took my neighbors phone number and name and said the delivery person would call my neighbor. After speaking with the supervisor I realized that it would not happen. I’d like to know what FedEx can do if anything about this? I also think FedEx needs to better train customer service. BTW, I couldn’t think the sender should be charged for this delivery since it is not their fault that the item was never delivered.
