LinkedIn connects individuals, businesses, and educational institutions from every corner of the world, primarily for professional networking, career development, and job posting/seeking.

How to File a Complaint of LinkedIn?

According to the service policy and grievance redressal mechanism defined by the LinkedIn Corporation, the internal complaint resolution process is divided into 2 levels.  If not resolved at initial levels, then escalate the complaint to the next authority.

Grievance Redressal Mechanism:

Registration Fee No Charges (₹0)
Resolution Period Up to 30 days (Read the customer service policy of LinkedIn)
Refund Period Within 7 to 15 business days (read the refund and compensation policy)

Levels of complaint escalation:

  • Level 1: Customer Service, LinkedIn (may take 24 hours to respond)
    • Toll-free customer care number (if available)
    • Email/Chat
    • Register online complaint
  • Level 2: Escalate complaints to the appointed Grievance Officer for India, LinkedIn Technology Information Pvt. Ltd. (This may be different for other countries)
  • Start Arbitration or Take Legal Action

For violation of consumer rights, you may file a complaint against LinkedIn with the Consumer Protection Forum (Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission in India).

Please note: If you have any complaints regarding privacy violations by LinkedIn, fake information, or the misuse of your data by LinkedIn Corporation, then file a public grievance with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY), Government of India, using the Centralised Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS).


Level 1: Customer Service, LinkedIn

At the initial level, users can register complaints to LinkedIn’s customer support by calling the customer service number, sending an email, or chatting with executives to resolve the issues (typically takes 7 days). Further, you can request to escalate the complaint with the CS Head of the Department of LinkedIn.

To do so, submit your complaint online to LinkedIn. Ensure to provide the following details:

  • Nature of the complaint
  • Contact details: Name and email
  • LinkedIn Services involved: e.g., profile, job application, business solutions, learning platform
  • Any specific LinkedIn profile/reference ID
  • A detailed description of the issue along with a screenshot and copy of the invoice or documents, if possible.

After successfully registering your complaint, make sure to note down the reference or ticket ID for tracking purposes. If the issue is not resolved, you can use this ID to escalate the case to LinkedIn’s Nodal Officers.

Level 2: Grievance Officer, LinkedIn – India

Under the IT (Information Technology) Act 2000, LinkedIn Corporation has appointed a Grievance Officer to handle concerns related to LinkedIn disputes. If your complaint submitted at level 1 is not resolved within the specified resolution period, you can escalate the matter to the Grievance Officer.

Legal issues related to LinkedIn may include:

  • Fake profiles
  • Inaccurate information on another member’s profile (such as employment or education)
  • Inappropriate or offensive content in your LinkedIn Feed
  • Alleged copyright or trademark infringement, or defamatory content
  • Frauds/scams and activities of cybercrimes

To address these concerns, please send a written grievance letter or email to the designated Grievance Officer. Include the following necessary details:

  1. Reference or ticket number of the previous complaint of level 1.
  2. Order ID for a specific payment transaction (if applicable).
  3. Profiles/Business page links (if any)
  4. Specify the reason for dissatisfaction and the relief expected.
  5. Provide a detailed description of the disputed matter, along with supporting documents like screenshots, bills, links to content/profile, or any other evidence.
